Roots Corporation Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of Indian Hotels Co Ltd, is planning to expand its network of ‘Ginger’ brand of hotels. Ginger is a branded hotel category without any frills. It has 17 hotels now and plans to increase it to 30 by 2010. It is operating on a land-lease model than outright purchase. It also adopts public-private partnership in govt. lands (eg. Its Delhi hotel in Railway premises). Its other hotels in pipeline are Chennai, Surat, Jamshedpur, a second hotel in Pune and plans one in Dharwad
