Himachal Pradesh government has invited bids from hotel developers who are in the business of luxurious hotels. It has identified 6 spots viz. the Suketi Fossil Park in Sirmaur district, Baragaon near Manali, Jhatingri in Mandi district, Shoja in Kullu district, , Nalagarh industrial town in Solan district and in Bilaspur. Some of the leading hotel chains have evinced interests. Currently, the top end tourist are skipping the state for lack of luxurious hotels.

Balaji Amines, a chemical manufacturer based in Hyderabad is setting up a 3 star hotel in Solapur in Maharashtra. The new hotel is likely to be managed by Sarovar group. The company perceived the hotel to utilize its 1.5 acre vacant land after realizing the potential of Solapur which is developing fast. The total project cost is estimated at Rs. 300 million.

Muthoot Pappachan group plans two business hotels in Chennai

Muthoot Pappachan group which has diversified interests has acquired land in OMR(Old Mahabalipuram Road) and in Sriperumpudur to set up two business hotels. According to sources, OMR property will have 197 rooms and is likely to be run by a international chain. In Sriperumbudur, it will have 200 rooms and will be a mid scale hotel. These projects are likely to go operational by 2012. The projects will entail an investment of Rs.1500 million.
