Holiday Inn to be the first 5 Star hotel in Patna

Amarapali Group is joining hands with Holiday Inn to set up a 5 star hotel in Patna. Bihar State Tourism and Development Corp had invited bids and Holiday Inn, Taj and Hyatt hotel participated. However, Holiday Inn gave in a profitable proposal of revenue of Rs.25 million every month. The new hotel will have 123 luxurious rooms including 7 suites on 9 floor. It will be built on 1.2 acres of land on the erstwhile Tourist Bungalow in Beer Chand Patel Road. It will also have 2 restaurants, bar, 24 hour coffee shop, gymnasium and swimming pool.

Bharat Hotels to venture into economy segment

Bharat Hotels (now named as Lalit (named after the company’s founder Lalit Suri) is planning to venture into economy and budget hotels. The company which is in spate of expansion and setting up properties in mid-market segment across 7 cities is set to open by 2010. It had severed its connection with Intercontinental Hotels Group (IHG) in 2008 and is looking at a new brand name for its new properties. The company may loot at captial market to raise funds for its expansion. It may be noted, the company has delisted from bourses in 2003 after the promoters raised their equity over 95% by open offers.

Vikram Chatwal – division of Hampshire hotels to expand in India

Vikram Chatwal Hotels, a division of Hampshire hotels is planning to invest Rs.50000 million in India to set up its ‘Dream’ brand of hotels. The company is setting up a 150 room hotel in Kochi, with 3 exclusive club floors, roof top Jacuzi and pool, 5 world class restaurants and bars. It is also putting up a hotel in Banjara hills in Hyderabad and in Jaipur. By 2010, the group will have around 2000 rooms from Bangalore, Kochi, Hyderabad, Jaipur and Mumbai.

Leela Group of hotels plans 5 new hotels by 2012

The Leela Group of Hotels, is planning to invest Rs.25000 million to build 5 hotels each in Delhi, Chennai, Hyderabad, Pune and Agra. It plans to commission Delhi and Chennai hotel by 2010 while the other 3 hotels will be commissioned by 2012. These hotels will add 1000 more rooms to its current 1600 rooms. It has recently opened one Udaipur property which falls into leisure category like the ones in Goa and Kovalam.
